Le Lude set in the Vallée du Loir, a tributary of La Loire which it joins at Angers. The Loire Valley was the playground of the Kings of France for centuries, and is thus lavishly populated with gorgeous châteaux, gardens, churches and other places of historic interest.
Le Lude is well located for exploring the region, being easily accessible by car, with the A28 auto route only 15 minutes away.
By Air the nearest airport is Tours which is serviced daily from the UK (Ryanair), with a train service from Paris to Le Mans several times per day, taking just 50 minutes.
The port of Calais is a 5 hour drive, with Caen, St. Malo and Le Havre all approximately 2-3 hours away.
The Loire benefits from the mild Gulf Stream and enjoys relatively short, mild winters and warm summers.
The Town - La Lude
5 Grande Rue is set in the heart of this market town, that offers a selection of bars, restaurants, shops, swimming pool and cinema is settled at the crossroad of Anjou and Touraine, between Le Mans and Tours, its Chateau being the most northerly in the Loire Valley, open to the public during the summer, with its well known annual garden festival during the first weekend of June.
Easy access to Le Mans, home of the world famous 24 hours Endurance race, MotoGp, biannual Classic Le Mans and its own dedicated museum is just thirty minutes away. The city also boasts a magnificent Cathedral, old town and market, all well worth visiting.
A short car journey takes you to the Zoo at La Fleche, which is also the home of the National Military Prytanée.
On the outskirts of La Flèche, you will find Lac de la Monnerie. This large and beautiful lake has a supervised, sandy beach for bathing, also offering sailing and wind-surfing opportunities.
The surrounding area has been attractively landscaped and is lovely for walking, cycling and picnics.
